**The Position**:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with members of the HR Team in the effective implementation of the HR functions including recruitment and onboarding, retention, performance management, recognition, policy development and documentation, HR data management and reporting, employee safety and wellness, communications, and learning and development. This role requires the Manager to work with a hands-on approach with respect to the daily HR situations that may occur while maintaining to be an active participant in the development and implementation of HR goals and operating plans.
The HR Manager plays an integral role to champion HR initiatives that support Havergal’s talent strategy and enable a collaborative, engaged and high performing culture. The Manager provides management and administrative support in the delivery of various HR projects and initiatives, being a key partner in designing, documenting, communicating and implementing processes, procedures, and programs to support the human resources needs of the business and the strategic initiatives of the School. The Manager must have a very high degree of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, including tact and discretion to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
The HR Manager stays informed of competitive management practices and new developments, ensuring the School’s HR policies and programs are designed to attract and retain highly diverse employees while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
**Specific Accountabilities**:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and business partnerships based on trust, experience and credibility with all staff
- Act as a business partner, provide expertise, consultation, and coaching to managerial stakeholders related to change management, staff performance, coaching, conflict resolution and in other areas of HR including hiring and selection, onboarding and compensation and benefits
- Maintain a positive employee relations climate by responding to employees' concerns and addressing issues proactively
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality onboarding process and program for all staff that effectively integrate them into the School’s operations and culture
- Provide input to the ED HR in developing and implementing employee retention plans, programs or policies. This will involve analysis of turnover statistics, conducting exit interviews, researching best practices in the education, not for profit, hospitality and other sectors.
- Work closely with ED HR and other senior leaders to drive an integrated equity, diversity and inclusion programs aimed at creating and sustaining an inclusive work environment.
- Undertake research, identify and analyze issues affecting policy outcome, prepare recommendations and present findings to ED HR on specific policy-related issues
- Support employees and people leaders in facilitating return-to-work, increasing safety awareness, reducing risks and improving safety programs including the development and/or delivery of required training, and recommending effective measures to achieve injury and/or incident reduction objectives, and promote employees’ health, safety and psychological wellness
- Serve as HR’s representative to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JSHC)
- Own project management and documentation for a number of HR initiatives, ensuring that projects are completed accurately, on time and on budget and reporting of results, analysis and recommendations to ED HR is completed
- Identify and recommend for opportunities to leverage successful programs more broadly across the School
- Maintain knowledge of relevant market trends and developments on employee engagement and diversity and use them to recommend and develop fresh and creative ideas to engage
