Quality Control Manager

**Job purpose**
Quality Control Manager is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in managing the QC Department and leading the QC Team in maintaining, organizing, and improving the Quality and Food Safety Programs and providing direct supervision and support to all staff within the QC Department
**Duties and Responsibilities**
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Employee will be directly responsible for Managing and leading the day-to-day activities of the Quality Control Supervisor, Lead Quality Control Technician.
- Employee will be responsible for ensuring that the product manufactured meets the Company’s finished product quality and safety expectations, as per customer and legal requirements.
- Coach, train and lead the Quality Control Team to ensure Food Quality and Safety is maintained throughout the process.
- Individual will provide immediate and direct support to live quality related issues as they occur on the plant floor, including completing full investigations on product quality and Quality Hold items to present to the Quality Manager.
- Lead customer complaint investigations. Liaise with applicable departments to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Present customer complaint analysis to senior management on a regular basis.
- Ensure that Hold designations are completed, recorded in Hold log and updated on Just foods system, in a timely manner.
- Individual will ensure proper procedures are being followed during regular, customer specific, organic and allergen changeovers, and provide support to Quality Control team as needed.
- Individual will ensure that Glass and Plastic Monitoring Program is being performed according to schedule and corrective actions are taken in timely manner.
- Verification of FSMS documentation.
- Individual will ensure that Belt inspections program is maintained, and corrective actions are taken in Timely manner.
- Oversee Quality Retain sample cage management and ensure to keep it organized all the time and evaluations are completed in timely manner.
- Maintain a sound working relationship with other departments to ensure no interruption in business and ensure constant communication with all levels of management regarding Food safety or Quality issues.
- Evaluate, modify, and design sanitation policies and procedures to ensure product quality and integrity. To create, maintain, and reassess written sanitation procedures that will effectively accomplish the task of ensuring product safety at all times.
- Provide guidance and leadership to develop a high-performance team, in addition to providing support to other teams in their efforts to meet the operational and cleanliness standards in their areas.
- Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through proper training and enforcement of all company policies, procedures and processes.
- Consult on all performance issues, including performance appraisals, training and corrective actions.
- Responsible for maintaining food safety in work responsibilities and report food safety issues to Quality Director immediately.
- Oversee Pest control Program including but not limited to reporting any pest related issues to pest control technician, reviewing Pest control technician’s recommendations and take necessary actions.
- Individual will be required to perform internal audits of the GFSI FS program and/or customer requirements.
- Individual will be required to participate in recalls, Traceability exercises when required.
- Individual will be required to provide assistance during customer visits or third-party audits.
- Employee will be responsible for providing training to employees as directed by Quality Manager.
- Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.
- Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.
- Approve the vacation requests.
- Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
- Issue disciplinary action when needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor of Science (Food Science) degree or Science related degree or diploma (e.g., chemistry, microbiology)
- 5 years of experience in the food industry with a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Must have HACCP qualification (ideally advanced level).
- Must have internal auditing training.
- Experience writing SOPs and implementing in a manufacturing environment.
- Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially in regard to product specifications
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, including multitasking.
