Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Operations Services, the Foreman Grade 2 is responsible, through regular inspections and active hands-on participation, for the total operation and maintenance relating to mechanical and custodial services for City-owned pools. The Foreman Grade 2 arranges for and supervises mechanical and building repairs, assists with repairs as required along with developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program for the building systems while maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs.

The Foreman Grade 2 is responsible for supervising, organizing and assigning work to staff. Performs staff evaluations, and prepares and maintains reports and records of evaluations, timekeeping, payroll and work schedules. Assists the Community Services Department staff in assessing needs of facilities and participating with repairs/renovations as required.

**As the **_Foreman Grade 2_**_ _**_in aquatics_**, you will**:

- Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the pool buildings and related systems.
- Provide thorough regular inspections, arrange for and supervise mechanical and building repairs, and assist with repairs when required.
- Develop and implement regularly scheduled preventative maintenance programs for the building systems.
- Implement an energy management program.
- Participate in upgrading programs, seminars and training.
- Ensure that building systems are operated and maintained at the most energy efficient standards.
- Assist in the preparation of specifications for work done by outside contractors, arranges for and supervises work and verifies work is completed.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of building maintenance and repairs.
- Determine the amounts/quantities of supplies and materials needed and place orders; consult with supervisor when large equipment needs repairs/replacement.
- Ensure that proper water quality is maintained and safe for use at all times.
- Ensure that building cleaning meets the appropriate Public Health standards.
- Ensure all facilities are kept in a healthy and safe manner for staff and general public at all times, i.e. site inspections, tailgate meetings, etc.
- Provide supervision of staff.
- Prepare work schedules and assign the same.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to staff performance evaluations, timekeeping, work scheduling, payroll etc.
- Monitor staff attendance, perform attendance reviews when necessary, and inform supervisor when remedial action needs to be taken.
- Ensure that staff is coached and trained to learn and adhere to all custodial, maintenance and water testing and treatment procedures/policies.
- Ensure that all staff receives the required safety equipment and training and follow the applicable procedures to conform to Provincial Legislation.
- Participate with Community Services staff towards efficient aquatic facilities operations.
- Work with various user groups, the general public, and other civic staff and provide assistance and advice on setting up and removing specialized equipment during special sports/aquatics events.
- Respond to after-hour callouts and emergency needs when required, or as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Three (3) years’ recent experience (within last 5 years) as a Building Servicer II and/or Foreman 1 in Aquatics with relevant technical principles, trade practices and technology including knowledge of chlorination systems.
- Supervisory experience, including training and evaluating staff.
- Experience in the use of hand and power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to problem solve, make decisions and recommendations.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to deal satisfactorily with the general public, a variety of stakeholders and other staff.
- Organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Verbal communication skills with the ability articulate ideas to a variety of audiences in a clear and effective manner.
- Written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Outlook, Word and Maximo or equivalent.

**Conditions of employment**:

- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver’s notice in force document upon request.
