Your Opportunity: An exciting opportunity to learn and grow on a "Chest Focused" inpatient unit. Unit 61 provides pre-op and post-operative care to Thoracic Surgery patients. Unit 61 provides care to the very acute Pulmonary Medicine and medical patients. Unit 61 provides excellent learning opportunities while working alongside our multidisciplinary team. Description: As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Current and active certification as a Health Care Aide. Current Heart and Stroke BCLS- HCP Level C certification. FMC PCU 61 Thoracic Surgery and Pulmonary HCA experience. Minimum 6 months experience (recent within last 1 year) of acute medical/surgical inpatient nursing experience. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and experience with the following programs: Connect Care and HCA documentation experience. Effective communication (written and verbal). Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads. Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members. **Preferred Qualifications**: Demonstrated ability to work as a team. Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Demonstrate ability to manage change.
