Responsibilities**: Under mínimal supervision of the Continuous Improvement - Manager, the Continuous Improvement Facilitator will be responsible for the successful identification, development and execution of Kaizen Events. This includes identifying manufacturing needs, defining scope, measuring and reporting progress on all active projects. In addition, the Continuous Improvement Facilitator will be responsible for training and educating associates, and teams, on innovative thinking and questioning of established practices. **Responsibilities include**: - **Overall Lean Sigma Journey Coordination** - Value chain Maps. KPO creates in conjunction with VSM, then hand over to Value Stream Manager to manages. - Help organization match Lean Journey events and business objectives - **Steering Committee** - Be familiar with operational flow and priorities - Mentor new lean management techniques - Review SQDC performance - Assume role of consultant - Participate in, teach problem solving skills - Support communication and promotion - Handle meeting prep and follow up for GM - **Kaizen Events** - Pre-work - Event week (not including training, see below for training expectations) - Document the before and after status of affected departments - Arrange resources for the team - Be a team leader, and/or: - Select and mentor team leaders - Notify area managers of needs and ensure support is being given quickly and timely - **Kaizen Event Follow-Up** - During sustainment week, live in the affected department - Become mentor to the department leader so you may pass sustainment on to responsible department after sustainment week - Monitor ongoing sustainment after leaving the department - Encourage and help make further improvements during the following months - **Tie-Up results** - Gather all information from events, organize and save - Build and teach standard work. Continue to monitor and save changes/improvements made by local leaders to standard work. - Ensure management has copies of results - **Point Kaizens** - “Mini” Kaizens on smaller projects with obvious gains that can be made without full week event. - **MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) Projects; derived from SQDC and "SQDC related projects"** - Support area leaders who have improvement ideas - Work together to find solutions which consider “Creativity over Capital” - Create presentation for management consideration - Oversee and report on the task observation program - **5S** - Train department 5S champions - Work with department leaders to ensure 5S support. - Follow up with champions, ensure gains are made and results are maintained - **Free-Staff coaching** - Kaizen events may free up staff. Help local area leaders re-deploy freed-up labor until affected staff are re-assigned. - **Training** - Day one training at Kaizen events - Lean awareness training for site - Lean Sigma training off-site or consulting on Kaizen Events off-site - Upgrading KPO skills at conferences, exchanges, events at other sites - All Lean Sigma training for site - **Promotion** - Maintain communication boards - Communicate constantly and coach others to respond in kind - Run plan and execute promotional activities to encourage employee engagement - Occasionally participate in one-week-long special projects called “Kaizen Events” which includes small amount of overtime, physical exertion and presentations. **II. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: - 1 - 2 years instrumentation related experience - Demonstrated organizational skills (required). - In depth knowledge of formalized lean manufacturing concepts, practices, and tools. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to develop good working relationships between department heads. - Demonstrated ability to think creatively. - Ability to coach, train, facilitates, and leads teams effectively in an unstructured work environment. **III.
