Position Overview**:
Manager, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is responsible for ensuring CHT’s diversity and social inclusion strategy is aligned with the human resources strategy, organizational values, and the strategic direction. The position will, focus on transforming CHT into an equitable organization that fully embodies anti-racism (AR), anti-oppressive (AO) and feminist values, principles, and practices.

Manager Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will strengthen CHT’s ability to serve our diverse community by providing leadership in the creation and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices and initiatives.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Human Resources, the position oversees strategies to build awareness though a trauma informed lenses to create an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment as the staff liaison dealing with EDI/ARAO issues.

Responsibilities**:

- Build an EDI culture through increased EDI/AOAR and ABR awareness and capacity-building. Encourage and promote the integration of EDI/AOAR and ABR (Anti Black Racism) principles in the workplace by ensuring that the EDI/AOAR and ABR action plan is integrated in corporate decisions, policies and programs with a focus on identifying and eliminating systemic barriers and inequities, such as those based on protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, including, but not limited to, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, creed, disability.
- Responsible for the development implementation and monitoring of the CHT’s EDI strategy and action plan, including resources, tools and actions to advance related goals within the Agency’s strategic plan.
- Be a champion of EDI/AOAR and ABR through review of existing processes, policies, systems, tools, spaces, etc. to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion in CHT; Recommend possible changes and support the implementation of agreed measures
- Provide direction, education / training, and support to CHT in the ongoing work of creating a more inclusive workplace and a more diverse workforce through foundational changes to policies and practices.
- Ensure CHT is in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and provide informed guidance on accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities.
- Working closely with the Associate Director, Human Resources and Volunteering, the Senior Management Team and Communications department, provide expert advice on the internal communication strategy in relation to inclusion and diversity, provide updates for CHT staff and committees regarding EDI work in different formats (newsletters, office updates, graphics, etc.) regularly sharing updates and gathering input; Draft internal communications and updates for CHT board and Covenant House International when needed for the Executive Director & Associate Director Human Resources.
- Be an advisor to the Diversity and Social Inclusion Committee and the Anti-Black Racism (ABR) Committee and participate in committee meetings.
- Foster strong and mutually beneficial relationships with people, organizations, other agencies working to address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and drive change.
- Design and implement EDI & ABR metrics, monitoring and reporting systems, and identify risks and mitigation strategies. Provide technical advice and support to integrate EDI in existing monitoring systems and monitor the effectiveness of EDI activities across the organization ensuring wide visibility and coherence.
- Conduct audits of related policies, programs, procedures and processes to identify systemic bias, and/or other potential areas of focus.
- In collaboration with the Associate Director, Human Resources, respond and investigate bias related incidents, and make strategic and proactive recommendations based on outcomes.
- **
Knowledge** and Experience**:

- A deep understanding of the dynamics of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the manifestations of racism, oppression, and colonialism.
- Knowledge and deeper understanding of responding to racial injustice with a Trauma-Informed approach
- Demonstrated experience in developing programs, monitoring and evaluation tools guidelines and/or tools for EDI, ABR and anti-racism work
- Experience in transformation, change management, project management methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to various stakeholders and facilitating workshops of differing sizes
- Community services experience highly desirable or demonstrated understanding of the homelessness and trafficking.
- ** Qualification & Technical Expertise**:

- Related Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent work experience; Equity studies or work experience in addressing inequities in specific contexts will be valued
