**Toolroom Coordinator (Machinist)**
Set up and operate a variety of machines to make or modify parts or products made of various materials with precise dimensions, inspect machined parts and tooling to maintain quality control standards.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machines including conventional, NC and CNC to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
- Fit and assemble components and subassemblies using hand and power tools
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators or other specialized measuring instruments
- Responsible for making recommendations to improve production through new and the modifications of jigs and fixtures
- Set up and program machines for use by machine shop operators
- Train employees on machine shop equipment
- Complete and maintain inspection reports
- Assist the Electrical and Maintenance department when required
**Minimum Requirements**
Trade certification for machinists
Previous working experience as a Machinist for minimum 5 years
Hands on experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
Hands on experience in maintenance and repair of standard plant equipment preferred
Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements
Technical knowledge of tools needed to grind or cut materials (metal, wood, plastic, other)
Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
Good at math with analytical abilities
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizations and prioritization skills
Physical stamina and strength to lift items up to 30lbs
