**Job Description**:

- RECREATION AIDE (Behavioral Support Transitional Unit)- At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team and celebrating achievements creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential. As a valued member of our recreation team, you will assume responsibility for providing high quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.- This position is for our Rouge Valley home, located in Scarborough, ON.Available opportunities: Full time Afternoon (12:00pm-8pm)- What you’ll be doing:- Plan, implement, evaluate, develop and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Resident Program Manager-
- Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.-
- Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.-
- Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.- What you bring:- Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services Gerontology Diploma or Degree program from a post-secondary institution in any jurisdiction equivalent to Ontario, social service worker with recreation experience.-
- Skills and experience in a health care or similar setting,-
- Dementiability, Gental Persuasive approach (is preferred)-
- Experience working with residents with responsive behaviors and other related mental illnesses.-
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired is preferred-
- Experience with an older adult population an asset-
- Strong customer and resident service skills.-
- Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset-
- Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks-
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities-
