Machinist Journeyman or 3rd - 4th year Apprentice Machinist

Responsible for using machine tools to make or modify parts, primarily metal parts.

Duties may include
- Sets-up and operates special purpose equipment, conventional (lathe and/or mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers for fabrication of metallic and non-metallic parts.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
- Operation of manual and CNC lathes, manual drill presses and manual / CNC milling machines
- Measure and perform calculations

Education
- Typically has Journeyman (M/F) level Certification or equivalent experience with 4-7 years of trades experience

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Machinist role
- 3rd of 4th year apprentice or journeyman
- Overhead crane training an asset
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Must be quick to learn new skills
- Strong attention to detail

Physical Requirements
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
- Standing on your feet for a long period of time
- Have good eye to hand coordination
- Be able to bend, crouch or kneel for extended periods
- Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day

Working Conditions
- 99% working indoors in a temperature controlled, well maintained facility

Shifts
- Days Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Afternoons Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 2:30am
- When our shop is busy, overtime is scheduled and expected

**Salary**: $28.50-$34.50 per hour
