As the largest municipality in Waterloo Region, Kitchener continues to be poised for development and growth, enhancing its reputation as a leader in city-building and innovation, with nationally recognized strategies to build its neighbourhoods, its digital infrastructure and its diverse economy.The **City of Kitchener** is WHERE you want to work Learn more about the top reasons to join us: **Why work at the City of Kitchener** Position Overview: - As a Temporary Labourer joining the Parks team for our Winter season, you be responsible for work related to clearing and maintaining sidewalks, facility walkways, multi-use pathways, and parking lots, as well as inspecting city assets.*** - Shift availability includes: Day Shifts, Afternoon Shifts and Night Shifts.**Responsibilities**: - Positions will involve a variety of winter control duties including manual labour organized within the following winter sections: - Downtown Sidewalks, City Hall, Market, Victoria Park Outdoor Rink. - Hand Clearing - Sidewalks, Facility Walkways, Walkway Steps and School Crossing Guard Intersections. - City Sidewalks, inspection of winter rinks, toboggan hills, dog parks and other city assets. - Facility Parking Lots, BMUT’s/Multi use trails, Cemeteries and Representative Route Patrol. - Performs other related duties as assigned. **Requirements**: - Minimum Grade 12 diploma. - Valid MTO “G” class driver’s license in good standing. - Ability to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills. - Available and flexible to work varying shifts, rotational duties, weekends, and overtime as required. - Able to perform a variety of duties including manual labour. - Ability to participate as an effective team member. - Demonstrated communication/customer service skills with an ability to keep accurate written records. - Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. *** - Please note that as per Human Resources Policy _HUM-HIR-_110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":_ - "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all _Directors,_ General Managers_, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._ - The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_ - 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full_-time and part-time classifications._ - 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_ **Department** Infrastructure Services **Division** Parks and Cemeteries **Union Affiliation** CUPE 68 **Number of Positions** 23 **Hours of Work** 40 hours per week (varying shifts) **Location** **Initial Location - Kitchener Operations Facility **City** Kitchener **Compensation** **Salary Range** $25.07 per hour **Grade/Band** N/A
