Option Construction Corp. is a family-owned General Contractor/Petroleum Contractor based out of Spruce Grove, AB, specializing in the Downstream Oil and Gas and Commercial Industry. We provide new construction, redevelopment, facility maintenance services and installations throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.

We seek a **Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter **to join our growing Petroleum Construction team. Tasks will be directly related to rebuilding and constructing structures for renovations.

**Job Duties & Responsibilities**
- Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply.
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
- Keep a daily log of tasks.
- Prepare estimates for work orders and request materials required to complete the job.
- Ensure an adequate material supply is available for the preventative maintenance program.
- Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed.
- Perform related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed limitations.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

**Position Requirements & Skills**
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of safe operation of carpentry tools.
- Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
- Time management skills.
- Experience supervising crews and sub-trades
- Operate and maintain company assets and equipment without direct supervision.
- Complete all required daily HSE documents, including FLRA’s, JSA’s, and vehicle/equipment inspections.
- Requires the ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet and crawl for distances of 50 feet.
- The ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
- Travel as required to cover assigned Region/Sub-region and is accessible during off hours, weekends, and holidays.

**Qualifications**
- The job requires performing tasks in all construction project areas and aspects.
- Must be willing to work out of town.
- Current Red Seal/Journeyman Carpenter's Certificate.
- Ability to read plans and blueprints and general knowledge of building codes.
- Experience working with crews and sub-trades
- High standards of quality of work, keen attention to detail, and outstanding customer service
- 3-5 years of experience as a Carpenter.
- 3-5 years of experience working in retail/commercial construction
