The Emergency Resource Coordinator is responsible for developing capacity within First Nation partners through all four levels of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct emergency mitigation planning including the development, exercise, and updates of emergency plans for Long Plain First Nation (LPFN).
- Coordinate and identify appropriate training for LPFN, as required. Training can include but are not limited to: ICS 100, 200, 300; FireSmart Education; Basic Emergency Management; Emergency Operations Centre’s.
- Assist First Nations when responding to an emergency event by: Establish and active an emergency operations center in the community; Act as incident commander; Assist with logístical tasks, including but not limited to creating flight manifests, evacuation lists, vulnerable population identification; Activate emergency plans; Liaise on behalf of the affected community with relevant partners including but not limited to Government Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, Indigenous Representative Organizations, and Tribal Councils; Work collaboratively with partners; Provide continuous monitoring of emergency event; Coordinate and procure additional resources as needed given the nature of the emergency.
- Coordinate with the affected community during the recovery phase to ensure that identified damages are remedied accordingly, in a timely manner.

**Qualifications**
- University degree or college diploma in one or more of the following fields: Project Management, Emergency Management, Community Development.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years in the development of emergency management plans and/or responding to emergencies in First Nations, Municipalities, Cities, Towns or large organizations.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience at a community-based program level, with demonstrated experience in relationship management and relationship development at community or municipal level.
- Ability to develop and facilitate emergency response training exercise or other training delivery experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge or connection to the community in the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in development of plans and exercises.
- Experience and training in media relations and public speaking.
- Ability to deal with conflict, mediate and problem solve.
- Strategic, growth minded, and innovative long-term thinker, with the ability to anticipate the needs and negotiate solutions.
- Must have proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be proficient in computer software.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions and fluent in a First Nations language would be an asset.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member.
- Work flexible hours.

**Conditions of Employment**
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
