We are looking to hire one full-time employee and up to two casuals

This role requires effective communication skills, physical ability to carry out duties, and ability to teach and organize work.

Carries out residents’ activities and programs in both group and one-on-one settings, ensures activities are engaging, safe and meaningful; motivates residents.

Carries out established recreation programs such as outings, exercises, crafts, gardening, social events, entertainment, games, etc.

Provides direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrates related techniques

Fosters positive relationships with residents, families, and team members, helps to ensure that each resident's unique needs are met while also modelling the values and leadership principles of St. Michael’s Centre.

Assists residents to and from programs as required.

Observes, reports, and documents any changes in residents. Provides input for resident care plans and feedback at care conferences.

Works well within a Team and is aware of the aspects of Psychological Health and Safety in the workplace

Participates in the development of activities by providing program input and residents’ feedback to the Program Coordinator.

Has some knowledge of adult learning techniques, cognitive impairments

Maintains clean work areas and stores equipment appropriately.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate or Diploma program
- Minimum 1 year experience in a senior-focused recreation department
- Current First Aid/CPR-C Certificate
- Current Food Safe Certificate
- Ability to relate effectively to Complex Care residents, their families, staff, and volunteers
- Ability to handle all physical aspects of the job
- Ability to organize work and implement a plan of care
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s License or willingness to obtain a Class 4 License - would be _an asset_
- Serving it Right Certificate - would be _an asset_

**Job Types**: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $29.83 per hour
