School District 8 (Kootenay Lake) is nestled in the Southeast corner of British Columbia. We focus on excellence for all learners in a nurturing environment.** **Qualifications**: - Bachelor of Education (Elementary or Middle) with a middle/ secondary focus - Specialization in Applied Design and Skills Technology - Appropriate certifications for teaching in shop/ safety certifications - Willingness to work closely with parents; - Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues; - Excellent classroom management skills; - Knowledge of current instructional practices and curriculum, including the SD8 Inclusion Model; - Knowledge and active use of Shelley Moore framework; - Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills; - Recent, demonstrated successful experience in a middle or secondary school setting; - Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to be flexible; - Familiarity with social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices; - Be proficient in woodwork and metalwork; - Have a vision for creating an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging middle school shop program. - Coordinate and deliver services for diverse learners; - Demonstrate ability to use differentiated instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners; - Implementing inclusion supports and recommendations in the IEP in the classroom - Participate in on-going professional development and develop a personal growth plan - Work in an atmosphere of collaboration with staff to build consistency and quality of programs - Communicate effectively with staff and parents - Be familiar with the BC Ed plan, school district board goals and school goals - Implement school wide strategies to support the school board’s student expectations, school and class needs - Demonstrate knowledge of using technology to support student learning **School District 8 supports equity hiring for Indigenous applicants.
