**Who we need**

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits, we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to work in partnership with the Human Resources team and all department Managers. You will deliver accurate and timely payroll processing for employees in Canada and the USA, ensuring compliance and providing exceptional customer service. Acting as the first line of contact for resolving issues, you will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, explain policies, and assist with implementing new procedures.
- This hybrid role requires 3+ days onsite during payroll weeks and 2 days in the office in between._

**You will**:

- Process payroll. You will input and balance payroll, inputting supporting documents, bonus, and commission payments as provided for bi-weekly hourly Canadian and salaried U.S. and Canadian payrolls. You will reconcile bi-weekly pay-to-pay adjustments, process and reconcile hourly vacation payments, submit weekly files to respective agencies, and verify all output from the payroll service provider. In addition, you will run payroll-related reports as required monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Support HR administration. You will prepare and verify Records of Employment and create and update personnel profiles in the HRIS, payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Communicate. You will work with managers to address time-reporting errors in the timekeeping system. You will advise employees on eligibility, coverage, and other questions related to benefit payments. You will respond to inquiries from employees, Service Canada, CRA, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Process changes. You will ensure that employee enrollment, changes, terminations, and adjustments are updated in the systems accurately and in a timely manner. You will also verify the accuracy of annual registers and other documentation.
- Collaborate. You will support the manager by assisting with allocating work assignments and acting as a resource for colleagues and the organization for matters related to Payroll and Benefits. You will participate in internal and external audits. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, providing recommendations to the manager based on gaps you have identified.

**You have**:

- The experience. You have experience as a Payroll Specialist for a growing mid-sized company and have extensive knowledge of payroll processes, regulatory requirements and agencies in Canada, and the U.S. You have an aptitude for numbers and processes, advanced Microsoft Excel skills and can use ADP Workforce NOW or a similar payroll and timekeeping system. You strictly adhere to the professionalism, detail orientation, and confidentiality required in Finance and Human Resources.
- The drive. You have proven organization, planning and time management skills and can balance changing priorities to meet deadlines. You can identify issues and gaps in processes and create and implement solutions.
- The interpersonal skills. You have professional written and verbal communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You prioritize delivering exceptional service in a timely manner.
