The Centre facilitates individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities related to the understanding and prevention of abuse. **Responsibilities**: The Research & Knowledge Mobilization Specialist will conduct literature reviews and evaluate primary research to identify emerging discussions and best practices on the prevention of domestic homicides, on recognizing and responding to intimate partner violence and on fostering healthy relationships for adults and for youth. The Specialist will manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the Neighbours, Friends & Families project, liaise with a variety of stakeholders, and ensure the successful coordination of all tasks to achieve the project outcomes. The role will synthesize findings from multiple sources to create accessible, plain language, knowledge products that incorporate an intersectional analysis of these issues for a general public audience. The Specialist will have responsibility for training and supervising staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows who conduct research and/or who engage in knowledge mobilization activities related to this initiative. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Master’s Degree in Women’s/Gender Studies, Education, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field - PhD in a relevant discipline preferred **Experience**: - 3 years' experience in a related academic research environment - Experience working or volunteering in a gender-based violence service - Experience conducting knowledge mobilization and communications activities - Experience developing plain language knowledge products such as blogs, infographics, toolkits, social media posts, videos, factsheets - Experience in supervising staff, students, or volunteers - Experience supporting research and knowledge mobilization projects related to gender-based violence preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Strong knowledge of established and emerging methods of Knowledge Mobilization, with documented success in digital marketing campaigns - Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment - Familiarity with techniques for assessing and managing data - Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit - Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards - Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required - Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy - Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received - Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation - Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner - Ability to interpret and identify key results from research and to succinctly summarize research findings - Ability to write for a public, non-academic audience - Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
