The **Faculty of Health Sciences** is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Food and Nutritional Sciences, Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), Graduate Programs in Kinesiology and Nursing, a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and five Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).

The **McCormick Care Group** oversees the operation of McCormick Home, a long-term care facility for seniors, and McCormick Dementia Services (formerly Alzheimer Outreach Services), a program that serves individuals and their families who are coping with dementia. In 2016, the McCormick Care Group established McCormick Dementia Research in order to attract and engage with research partners to continue discovering new ways to enhance the lives of those living with a dementia diagnosis.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Program Manager, Research, and under the direction of the Associate Dean (Research), the CEO of the McCormick Care Group and in collaboration with FHS faculty members, the Research and Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator will contribute to the design and implementation of knowledge mobilization strategies for research initiatives in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Coordinator will provide expertise across the faculty in building linkages with professional practice partners, policy makers, industry, the media, and the broader public.

The Coordinator will be responsible for providing research guidance and hands-on operational support to enable McCormick Care Group to be actively engaged in research, best practice development, and knowledge translation. The Coordinator will facilitate research at McCormick by communicating with families and staff to advise them of opportunities to participate in research and work with staff to identify and recruit participants. The Coordinator will prepare brief bi-monthly research activity summaries for the McCormick Board. As an essential element of this position, the Coordinator will enable collaboration with external researchers, including those at Western, and related partners.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate degree in any research-related field with preference on the field of health sciences, social sciences, communication, public relations, politics, government, public administration, social policy, business studies or management
- Master’s degree in any research-related field with preference on the field of health sciences, social sciences, communication, public relations, politics, government, public administration, social policy, business studies or management is preferred

**Experience**:

- 5 years' experience in a role related to knowledge mobilization, research coordination or equivalent
- Previous experience with Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC, and/or CIHR) funding agencies programs, with a focus on requirements, challenges, and opportunities for knowledge mobilization
- Experience in research design and administration
- Knowledge Mobilization experience in the university sector is preferred
- Experience developing knowledge products such as infographics, toolkits, newsletters, factsheets, and report summaries would be an asset
- Demonstrated interest in dementia care preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Demonstrated excellent understanding of all aspects of Knowledge Mobilization (e.g., stakeholder engagement, evidence synthesis, knowledge product development, dissemination, implementation, evaluation)
- Demonstrated experience with diverse stakeholders across multiple disciplines
- Strong knowledge of established and emerging methods of Knowledge Mobilization, with documented success in open data and publication platforms for broad uptake and reach
- Ability to identify, map and understand stakeholder relationships and policy processes across diverse health systems to support the design of effective knowledge mobilization strategies strategies/projects
- An understanding of community and government partners in the Health Sciences related fields
- An understanding of relevant measures for traditional scholarly output as well as alternative metrics for capturing impact beyond academic disciplines and domains
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
- Detail oriented with strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills to address multiple tasks and timelines
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
