**EIT STRUCTURAL STEEL DETAILER**

**General Description**

Combustion Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Junior EIT Structural Steel Detailer to join our Engineering Team. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to contribute to our projects and grow within our team. The EIT Structural Steel Detailer is a position focused on the design, modeling, and drafting of structural steel assemblies. This includes the review of customer specifications, assessment of design requirements, and development of design concepts to meet these design criteria. The EIT Structural Steel Detailer will perform structural design calculations, generate detailed fabrication drawings, review calculations / drawings generated by other team members. The Junior EIT Structural Steel Detailer will collaborate with the Engineering Manager and other engineering disciplines to ensure the successful execution of projects.

The EIT Structural Steel Detailer will assist with procurement, scheduling, and budgeting on structural projects as well as provide support to the shop fabrication and/or site installation teams. When required the EIT Structural Steel Detailer will assist the Sales team in the preparation of structural steel proposals and cost estimates.

**Job Duties**
- Participate in project handover/kickoff meetings
- Review and understand customer specifications, standards, and drawings
- Identify and follow applicable industry and regulatory codes and standards including API, CSA S16, IEC, as well as CSI engineering and project management procedures
- Analize structural design concepts for ease of fabrication, site constructability, and cost
- Perform structural design / modeling in Tekla
- Seek technical input from structural engineering regarding safe designs and construction, appropriate material selection, and calculation of loading and stresses
- Create structural drawings in Tekla
- Perform structural design calculations
- Participate in project model reviews
- Checking of structural designs and drawings produced by others within the organization
- Checking of structural calculation produced by others within the organization
- Assist QC department with the creation of project inspection test plans (ITP’s)
- Assist with the creation of project schedules and budgets
- Assist with the creation of RFI’s, PCN’s, and Changes of Scope where required
- Communicate with Manager of Engineering and Project Engineers where required throughout lifecycle of work on each drawing.
- Participate in engineering meetings facilitated by Manager of Engineering
- Provide input to Manager of Engineering regarding completion percentage of engineering deliverables and workload
- Assemble final project close-out documentation manuals
- Participate in project lessons learned meetings
- Generate structural material take-off for procurement
- Provide technical support for material sourcing, quotation review, vendor selection, provide answers to vendor inquiries and approval of material discrepancies
- Assist with procurement of materials shortages identified by shop management
- Participate in fabrication handover/kickoff meetings
- Provide.dxf and.dstv files output from Tekla and/or SolidWorks CAD software for materials processing purposes.
- Provide input to fabrication tasking process
- Coordinate with shop management, review drawings and formulate construction plans
- Review shop fabrication progress against project schedules and provide support for the fabrication process
- Assist Sales department with structural proposals including; customer specification review, cost estimation, proposal document generation, and determination of project schedules.
- Perform work in an efficient manner to minimize overtime. Ensure all required overtime is approved by Manager of Engineering
- Identification of processes that can improve project efficiency and communicate to manager of Engineering

**Qualifications, Core Competencies, Skills, and Abilities**
- Technologist certificate in structural detailing or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience using Tekla software to execute structural design and drafting projects
- Experience in the design and drafting of structural steel packages including, structural skids, ladders, platforms, handrails and more.
- Experience in the preparation of detailed structural steel fabrication drawings/Shop drawings
- Experience developing structural designs in accordance with client specifications as well as applicable codes and standards
- Experience in the design and drafting of rebar an asset
- Familiarity with materials processing techniques and machinery
- Familiarity with structural fabrication techniques and methods
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
- Strong English language skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, tradespersons, administrative staff, and co-workers
