**Job Synopsis**

Reporting to the Thrift Coordinator, and working as part of the Thrift Support Team, the Thrift Network Specialist will support and resource thrift and social enterprise endeavors of MCC Ontario.

The Network Specialist will work closely with the Thrift Coordinator and General Managers as they ensure the shops align with all regulations and best practices. This position will also work with staff in Core Services to troubleshoot issues, resource MCC Thrift shops, and help to strengthen systems and processes.***

This full-time role will typically be Monday through Friday 8:30 - 4:30 but flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays on occasion is required.

MCC Ontario Thrift Shops provide 30% of MCCO’s annual revenue. These shops sell donated items and are managed at the local level through a team consisting of management staff and volunteers. Each shop seeks to be a friendly, caring presence in the community, showing value and respect to all. Practicing and promoting faithful stewardship and care for God's creation and raising funds for MCC are also key components to the mission statement of each MCC Thrift Shop.

**Qualifications**

**Required**
- Self-motivated and willing to take initiative while strongly collaborating with the Thrift Support Team and Thrift Shop managers.
- Ability to engage and influence others to achieve organizational goals, relating well to people of all ages and backgrounds with a pleasant and professional demeanor.
- Demonstrated ability for program coordination and administration.
- Flexibility and resourcefulness in changing priorities to respond to needs as they arise.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage logistics in planning and follow through for a variety of events and/or meetings.
- Respect for and discretion in dealing with confidential/sensitive material.
- Commitment to the operating principles of MCC Thrift and the values of MCC including a heart for justice and active peacemaking.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office programs including Excel, Outlook, Word. General comfort with computers. Ability to learn and adopt new software.
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma plus 3-5 years related experience.
- Abie to lift 50 lbs. and exert 11 to 25 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Able to travel domestically, especially within Ontario. Valid 'G' License.

**Preferred**
- Ability to work in a busy, complex working environment that includes an open work area
- A demonstrated commitment to the philosophy, practice and promotion of second-hand retail. Familiarity with MCC/MCC Ontario and MCC Thrift Shops.
- Experience working with volunteers
- Experience in retail management setting, including knowledge of POS systems.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in Ontario.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Administration**:

- Gain a solid understanding of all aspects of MCCO Thrift
- Interpret sales and production reports, providing analysis to the Thrift Coordinator and others in the Thrift Network. Provide insights and suggest tangible modifications for shops based on data points.
- Be the point person for the Point-of-Sale system:

- coordinate updates
- liaise with I.T and the provider
- research new systems as requested
- provide training
- maintain the POS Manual
- organize the ordering and distribution of gift cards
- lead the relationship with Chase Paymentech
- oversee the network-wide Silent Auction program (module of the POS)
- Update and maintain procedures and policies. Assist in developing or improving existing procedures and ensuring manuals, forms, etc. are updated as procedures change.
- Assist in developing orientation and training packages for each team member (existing & new) streamlining knowledge, facts, core values and expectations depending on their role
- Perform regular operational audits in each Thrift Shop, reporting on key initiatives and compliancy.
- Plan and coordinate team and network meetings and take minutes.
- Organize communications and file storage for Thrift.
- Liaise with the marketing team ensuring shop closures and events are well communicated in advance.
