Warehouse Lead Hand

**Unified Alloys **is one of the largest suppliers of specialty steel, alloy piping and instrumentation products in Canada. We are currently looking to expand our **Warehouse** team and have a **Warehouse Lead Hand **position available in our **Langley **operation.
**General Responsibilities**:
As an integral member of the team, it is the responsibility of the Warehouse Lead Hand to assist the Warehouse Department Head in all aspects of warehouse operations to facilitate a safe and efficient workplace that complies with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policy and procedures. This includes supervision of warehouse staff, assigning duties, ensuring supplies are available and addressing operational concerns. The Warehouse Lead Hand is required to fulfill the duties of all warehouse roles and / or other assigned duties.
**Warehouse Lead Hand Overview**:
- Assist the Warehouse Department Head in carrying out warehouse operations within the general framework laid down by the Warehouse Department Head.
- Maintain a direct and continuous line of communication with the Warehouse Team and Department Head on daily operations.
- Maintain working knowledge of and provide coverage for all warehouse related job roles.
- Assign tasks as appropriate to facilitate daily objectives.
- Act as a leader and set an example of expected behavior.
- Attend scheduled meetings, contribute updates, and lead where applicable.
- Address warehouse operational and staffing concerns and provide improvement recommendations to the Warehouse Department Head.
- Maintain and ensure consumables (supplies) for warehouse.
- Assist with ensuring the accurate submission and approval of absence and payroll (on-call, overtime, etc.) documentation.
- Assist with training and monitoring compliance to documented processes and procedures.
- Know product and product storage locations. Work with Department head regarding organizational strategies.
- Investigate quality and / or inventory discrepancy issues and report findings to the appropriate personnel and implement applicable actions.
- Conduct and / or monitor tool and equipment inspections to ensure inspections are conducted and maintenance issues are addressed.
- Manage the placement and unloading of large deliveries.
- Ensure appropriate traffic flow and general yard housekeeping and maintenance.
- Ensure the warehouse and yard areas are kept clean and clutter free.
- Ensure all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues and concerns are reported and addressed.
- Adhere to Quality, Health and Safety requirements and company policies and procedures.
**Desired Skills and Qualifications**:
- 5+ years of warehouse experience. Industry related experience preferred.
- Effective people management skills and the ability to build a rapport with various personality types.
- Ability to handle stress and people with professionalism and tact.
- Strong knowledge of all warehouse procedures and techniques including packaging, sorting, stacking, product placement/picking, loading/unloading trucks, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central (previously NAV) software preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Teams.
- Capable of following written and verbal instructions and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrate self-confidence in ability to quickly learn and competently train others on all warehouse processes, procedures, machines/tools (forklift, saws, pipe threading, roll groove, CSA tester, banders, man lifts, hand tools, power tools, tube coiler, etc.)
- Confidently operate and train others on all warehouse machines/tools (forklifts, saws, pipe threading, roll groove, CSA tester, banders, man lifts, hand tools, power tools, tube coiler, etc.,).
- Understands the importance of and adheres to confidentiality requirements.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
