**Overview**

**Duties**
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
- Manage accounts payable functions related to payroll, including deductions and benefits administration.
- Perform data entry tasks related to employee hours, salaries, and adjustments in payroll systems.
- Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of payments for all payroll-related deductions, including Revenue Canada deductions, employee pension and benefits, and other remittances as required by the Centre and government agencies;
- Collaborate with the Human Resources department to ensure all employee information is up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies or issues, providing solutions as necessary.
- Responsible for the year-end balancing and completion of annual returns, including T4 and T4A Forms, Employer Health Tax Return, Workers Safety Insurance Board Reconciliation, and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) Report;
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports for management review and audits.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation and best practices to ensure compliance.

**Experience**
- Proven experience in payroll processing or a similar role is required.
- Familiarity with accounting principles related to payroll and accounts payable is essential.
- Proficient in using payroll software; experience with Kronos, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, or Workday is highly desirable.
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all transactions.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess payroll data effectively.
- Completion of the Intermediate Payroll Level of the Payroll Management Certificate Program as offered by the Canadian Payroll Association, considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate in English and French, considered an asset.
