Flag Persons play a crucial role in road construction. They are responsible for their own safety, the safety of the work crew, and the safety of the travelling public. Flag persons control the movement of traffic through the workzone using hand signals, a stop/slow paddle, and radio communication. Under the direction of the Traffic Accommodation Supervisor, the Flag Person will also assist in setting up and taking down the workzone, signs, and help maintain the signs throughout the day. Other labour activities and regular cleaning is part of the duties. Must be willing to travel and overnight for 10 days on with 4 days off.

**What is the role?**
- Control the movement of traffic through the workzone using two-way radio communication
- Assist in setting up and taking down the road construction signs throughout the day
- Ensure all signs are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis
- Clean and maintain the sign truck daily
- Participate in the company safety program
- Work as part of a team and be motivated to work alone to achieve the company goal of helping to ensure the safety of the workzone

- Ability to stand for long periods of time (12-16 hour days with breaks from the flag station approx.. every 2 hrs)
- Ability to perform physical labour from time to time - pounding posts, lifting signs, cleaning, walking, installing temporary pavement markers, lift up to 50lbs, etc.
- Must like working outdoors in various weather conditions including high winds and rain
