Crane Operator/die Setter

**Job Summary**:To support our Press Shop operation in ensuring dies are properly stage on bolsters, coils are setup on mandrel and/or blanks are setup on presses based on press shop setup schedules. Also to ensure that all safety and quality start-up procedures are being followed at all time

**Required Education and Experience**:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Basic English skills (oral and written)
- Possess a valid Crane certification. Possession of a valid FL certification is an asset.
- Minimum one year of manufacturing and crane operation work experience
- Must be physically capable of performing work required
- Excellent attendance
- Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision
- Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
- Flexibility to work overtime as required and occasional alternative hours, if necessary to meet customer requirements
- Good forklift driving practices and records
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Support Quality System and Environmental Management System Requirements
- Must be willing to work other shifts or perform other duties/tasks that are of reasonable request by Supervisor/Manager
- Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition

**Essential Functions**:

- Responsible to ensure that all safety and quality start-up procedures are followed
- Operate overhead crane to transfer die from die storage to press bolsters as per press shop schedule
- Ensure bolster is clean before placing the die. Align, locate and clamp the die properly on bolster
- Set up peripheral equipment such as die cables, transfer bars, fingers, T-stand, scrap chutes, shaker air lines, etc.
- Support QDC activities
- Operate overhead crane to transfer, set up coil on mandrel and feed to the feeder as required
- Perform cross check by using Pre-Flight Check sheet (PFC) to ensure everything is ready to take off
- Remove all peripheral equipment when job finished.
- Clean lube, scrap or debris around the die before picking up from bolster
- Return the dies and materials to the proper location
- Maintain a clean work area during the shift and shift end by following 5S standard.
- Responsible to communicate with team members (Supervisor, Quality, Co-workers) on any issues with the machines.
- Assist Press Operator to run the press as required
- As backup for coil receiver:

- Receive metal coils as per schedule, weight coils with crane
- Verify the weight is correct as per packing slip. Report any discrepancies to your supervisor immediately
- Load coils onto the coil cradle and on the de-coiler based on production requirements
- Manage, store and disperse raw materials based on FIFO

**Working Environment**:

- 100% plant floor (PPE required)

**Physical Demands**:

- Require communication with employees, peers and management
- Lifting and pushing as needed
