Junior Associate at Intertek for 14 week Placement. S tudents in University of Guelph **Master’s of Applied Toxicology **program enrolled in BIOM*6910 Practicum in Biomedical Sciences.

**Student will assist with project work and work towards the following objectives**:

- Work on 3 writing reports summarizing the hazards of ingredients as a contributing team member to a large scale contract
- Researching and presenting a topic of interest to peers at Intertek to advance knowledge and understanding on a toxicology concept or novel test method.
- Literature reviews and critical review of scientific information, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, evidence-based reviews
- Analysis of quality of studies, i.e. study design, adherence to regulatory guidelines, identification of deficiencies
- Analysis of toxicity data: quality of data, identification of data gaps
- Interpretation of results in relation to regulatory guidelines
- Risk assessment: weight-of-evidence approach and evidence-informed decision-making as it applies toxicology risks to human health; ecological/environmental risks
