**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**Position**: Fabrication Shop Supervisor

**Reports To**: President

**Job Type**: Permanent, Full Time (minimum of 40 hours per week)

**Salary**: Starting at $34.00 per hour, based on Experience & Qualifications

**PRIMARY FUNCTION**:
Under the direction of the President, the Fabrication Shop Supervisor oversees all Fabrication Shop Employees, ensuring that Production goals are met, and that the Policies and Work Procedures of Phoenix Steel Inc. are always adhered to.

This position requires an experienced individual, and who is highly organized and quality oriented.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Duties include the following, and any other duties that may be assigned.
- Use standard shop tools & equipment, such as Measuring Tape, Grinders, Squares, Calipers, Oxy-Acetylene Torches, Ironworker, Bandsaws, Drill Presses etc.
- Operate Overhead Cranes, Forklifts
- Read & understand Shop Fabrication Drawings with thorough interpretation of welding symbols
- Identification, Layout, Fitting & Welding of both Miscellaneous Metals & Structural Steel Components as per shop drawings provided, using MCAW & GMAW welding processes
- Ensure that Employees are aware of their Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure that employees are properly trained for the task that is being performed
- Coordinate with CWB & Welding Engineer with respect to Company & Employee Requirements, including the scheduling of Welder Testing & Audit Preparation
- Ensure all employees wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times
- Conduct in-process Quality Inspections of all fabricated items
- Identify nonconforming products and initiate Corrective Action
- Establish/maintain a Housekeeping Plan for continuous improvement
- Establish/maintain an Equipment/Machinery Maintenance Plan for continuous improvement
- Participate in regular Production Meetings
- Receive job packages from the Project Managers and manage the job through the Shop, ensuring that work is performed to current drawings, specifications, and procedures
- Coordinate the flow and proper handling of material and products through the Shop
- Establish/monitor production schedules and communicate any scheduling issues
- Report fabrication issues to Project Managers and assist in resolutions as required.
- Review finished assemblies and parts to ensure accuracy against drawings and BOM’s.
- Ensure finished assemblies are properly tagged, packaged, and ready for shipment
- Initiate and coordinate Inventory and Cost Control programs
- Assist in Hiring, Training, Performance Evaluation of Employees, and recommend the Discharge of Employees, when necessary
- Track Hours and Review Daily Employee Timesheets
- Ensure employees work Safely and Responsibly, while adhering to Company Safety Rules.
- Work a minimum 40 hrs. per week, and flexible hours as required.

**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be a team player, and able to work well with others, with minimum supervision
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the fabrication of steel beams, columns, welded frames, stairs, railings, ladders & custom steel items
- Ability to identify & work with various steel member shapes and sizes
- Ability to employ various Fitting and Welding techniques to improve efficiency
- Ability to work using both Metric and Imperial Units
- Ability to use simple mathematical calculations for the Layout purposes
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Possession of own Layout Tools and Welding Gear
- Possession of current CWB welding tickets (Flat & Horizontal at a minimum)
- Possession of CWB Welding Supervisor Certification would be a definite asset
- Possession of own transportation for travelling to and from work, with a valid G-Class License and clean driving record
- Ability to work overtime and occasionally Saturdays, if required

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**:

- Technical School Certification in Welding or related Engineering background
- Demonstrated mechanical ability
- Five or more years of Fabrication Shop Management experience
- Excellent communication skills
