**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Conduct regular litter pickup from all grounds areas and sweep paved surfaces. Conduct regular garbage collection from outside containers and clean outdoor ashtrays.
- Perform general maintenance of grounds such as grass cutting/trimming using tractor, lawn mower and gas powered weed trimmer. Planning and planting of flowers, trees and shrubs, maintenance of flower beds, refreshing soils, weeding, aerating, fertilizing, watering, seeding and sod installation. Perform supplemental snow removal tasks and salting of entrances and high traffic areas in winter. Turf/grass renovations / turf grass establishment.
- Repair/maintenance of irrigation systems including seasonal commissioning and de-commissioning, and work with 3rd party vendor when required.
- Landscape maintenance (i.e. storm water retention ponds, retaining walls/flower boxes, etc.)
- Clean and conduct routine maintenance of grounds equipment such as checking belts, oil and filters, lubrication (greasing).
- Construct, install and maintain exterior site features such as pre-cast concrete curbs, fixed and temporary barriers, signage, fencing and exterior furniture (benches, planters, etc.).
- Assists with (seasonal) preventative maintenance tasks such as relamping and HVAC filter replacement
- Tree maintenance and maintenance of reforestation program. Consultation with arborists. Pruning, limbing and removal of trees. Chipping and mulching of waste material for recycle.
- Develop yearly plan for grounds improvement and future projects. Researches material costs and product information, purchase supplies, plants, trees
- Parking lots/roadway (asphalt repairs, installation of signage etc.)
- Liaise with outside contractors (i.e. construction of new buildings - landscaping)
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Works well under pressure in a busy and high volume environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively with team members.
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated by working professionally and effectively with people at all levels internally and externally to the college.
- A minimum one (1) year experience working in operation and maintenance of varied types of grounds and landscape equipment, fertilizers, and working with irrigation systems.
- Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
**Required Skills**:
Starting Hourly Rate: $24.62; Four Year Rate: $28.52
Required Experience
Hours: 40 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon - Fri (8:00 am - 5:00 pm)
