**About the position**

**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the cooking, baking, and food preparation for delivery to daycare centres on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure safe food storage and disposal; including taking daily logs of food temperature and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
- In addition to the regular food production schedule, the kitchen assistant can be responsible for preparing special meals and snacks for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs.
- Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.
- Oversees kitchen operations including scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters cupboards, and drawers.
- Require to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events from time to time.
- May require to deliver prepared food to daycare centres on some occasions.
- Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the daycare centres.

**What you need**
- Current Food Handler Certification
- 3 - 5 years of Sous Chef or Executive Chef work-related experience.
- Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.
- Red Seal designation or similar certification an asset.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Criminal record check
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to 45 pounds
