**Job Summary**
The Quality Assurance Technician (QA Technician) is responsible for ensuring that cannabis products meet the high standards set by Health Canada and the company's internal quality controls. The QA Technician will monitor and ensure compliance to Good Production Practices (GPP) and other regulatory requirements. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of testing procedures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Quality Control and Monitoring:
- Be the example for regulatory and process compliance.
- Adhere to good production practices (GPP) as in Cannabis Regulation, food safety and health & safety requirement in the manufacturing facility, and other quality systems as required.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Participate in preventive control plan development and maintenance.
- Participate in annual product quality review.
- Monitor, sample, test, and record of incoming raw and packaging material, and finished product including review COAs.
- Monitor the entire production process to ensure compliance with Good Production Practices (GPP) and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Verify that all production activities meet regulatory requirements and company specifications.
- Initiate, participate and/or lead deviation and CAPA activities.
- Ensure the timely completion of corrective and preventive actions, as assigned, and communicate corrective actions to production personnel.
- Monitor completion and compliance to the allergen control program.
- Provide technical support and training on testing procedures and quality standards to production staff as required.
- Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of all testing and inspections.
- Document non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure all quality-related documentation complies with SOP’s and company policies.
- Provide forms/document to operations as required and collect and organize records in respective binders for audit, including batch records.
- Assist and review quality systems documentation for completeness and accuracy of information, while following GPP/GMP and associated SOPs.
- SOP Compliance and Improvement
- Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout the production process.
- Participate in the review and improvement of SOPs to ensure they remain compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Provide feedback to the Quality Assurance team on opportunities for improvement in procedures and testing methods.
- Conduct training sessions for staff related to SOPs, and general operational procedures.
- Equipment Calibration and Maintenance
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and scales to ensure accuracy and functionality.
- Schedule routine maintenance and coordinate with third-party service providers for repairs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
- Education and Experience:
- University degree in Food Science or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in a quality assurance role, preferably in a regulated industry (pharmaceuticals, food, cannabis).
- Experience in a cannabis production environment is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Good Production Practices (GPP) and Health Canada cannabis regulations is an asset.
- Familiarity with data management software for documentation and record-keeping.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work in compliance with Health Canada regulations.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a laboratory/production environment.

- Primarily works in a laboratory setting, with occasional work in production areas.

- Required use of protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, gloves, masks).
