**Financial Analyst II (Labour)**:
As part of the Financial Planning & Analysis function, the Financial Analyst, Labour will act as partner to the departments to provide analysis on labour variances. This role is responsible for performing labour budgeting/forecasting and analytical activities for both salaried and hourly employees, including and not limited to analyzing resourcing trends for key programs and support functions, investigating and explaining any discrepancies against budget/forecast, and producing monthly labour metrics reports.

This opportunity is based at our North Vancouver Shipyards. Although supporting this location will be the focus, you will work with the wider finance team while being a key contributor in strategic projects across all Seaspan business units.

**What you’ll do**
- Work closely with Payroll and Payroll Governance groups to understand payroll and HR process workflow and how it impacts the financials.
- Identify key trend within the organization, providing insights to cost drivers.
- Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes labour trends and variances for monthly management reporting.
- Supports in program labour rate modelling.
- Manage the annual resource labour budgeting process.
- Create and maintain Business Intelligence and Query reports.
- Participates in system improvement projects and initiatives to support proper costing and planning.

**What you’ll bring**
- Bachelor’s degree in business or Finance or related field of study is required.
- Minimum 4 years of financial/data analysis experience with at least 2 years reviewing payroll costs.
- Excellent multi-tasking, prioritization, and planning abilities to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communications, including ability to communicate with others with tact and diplomacy.
- Strong Excel skills (macros, query, pivot table, lookups).
- Experienced in developing reports using Business Intelligence tools such as SAP BI and Power BI.
- Proven ability to prepare a broad range of financial documents, reports, and analyses.
- Proven record in developing and maintaining strong cross department relationships while maintaining confidentiality for sensitivity data.
- Strong financial acumen to understand resource planning impact to bottom line.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting and payroll concepts.
- Enjoy hands on role and digging into the details.
- Ability to collaborate in virtual and in-person environments
