**Position Summary**

The GP is to carry out all tasks as directed by the deck officers of the vessel. All duties relating to the maintenance of the deck, engine, line-handling, slip-assist lines, cargo assist.

All crew members must comply with all regulations set out by the Canada Labour Code, Canada Shipping Act, Corporate Policy, Company Safety Policy, Transport Canada regulations including Marine Personnel Regulations and any other applicable legislation. All crew members will be required to cross the border to the United States or overseas as required by vessel’s voyage operations. Exercising a high degree of professionalism with all third-party inspectors or customers is mandatory for all shipboard personnel.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assisting in the safe docking of the vessel, which includes line-handling.
- General shipboard maintenance as directed by Senior officer.
- Must exhibit the ability to work alone without supervision yet maintain compliance with all safety policies.
- Must possess good communication skills.

**Minimum Qualifications**

The GP must hold the following minimum qualifications (as issued by Transport Canada)
- MED with respect to STCW basic safety; MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
- Marine Basic First Aid.
- Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
- Oil Tanker Familiarization (not mandatory, but an asset)
- A valid Passport and Marine Medical
- Eligible to enter the US

The Company may require additional training courses in the following areas:

- Occupational Health and Safety.
- Oil Spill Response.
- Accident/Hazard Investigation training.
- Hazard Prevention
- Burning/Welding
