Where We Work: What You Would Do in This Role: The Junior Buyer is responsible for performing procurement activities to ensure the timely purchase of materials and equipment to meet project requirements. Duties include:
- Working within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects
- Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices
- Updating purchasing and expediting milestone dates in the procurement software
- Preparing, issuing and evaluating standard procurement documents including bid lists, request for quotation and commercial bid evaluations
- Purchasing electrical, instrumentation and piping commodity materials and equipment
- Executing appropriate bidding strategies
- Creating and issuing purchase orders for materials
- Assisting in the negotiation of progress payments
- Developing and managing vendor/contractor relationships
- Assisting with expediting, as required
- Performing other duties as requested
- Closing purchase orders
- Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues affecting a purchase order
- Attending status meetings with suppliers
- Reviewing material and service invoices for accuracy
- Coordinating transportation and logistics, as required Requirements:
- Post-secondary certification or equivalent
- Recent graduates will be considered
