About the Faculty of Medicine

**Position purpose**:
Report to the Senior Advisor, Program Management, Coordinates the day to day operations of the Indigenous Program within the Undergraduate Medical Education department, acting as the resource person for Indigenous students and as a liaison with the Indigenous Community. Works closely with the Director of the Indigenous Program to ensure the smooth delivery of the program. Ensures the growth and development of the program through development of recruitment and retention strategies for Indigenous students.
**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
Communication / Community Liaison
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the Indigenous community to establish contacts and/or find resources for various activities.
Support and direct Indigenous students to other resources as needed and assist in mentorship activities. Inform students of external meetings and events that are related to Indigenous health.
Promote and market the Indigenous Program in collaboration with the main campus Indigenous Liaison to recruit Indigenous Students by attending Job/Career/Health Fairs and community events; as well as online outreach, as required.
Curriculum management
Ensures that the AFMC/IPAC Indigenous health core competencies are integrated into the curriculum in collaboration with the Program Director
Plans for the curricular elements of Indigenous health activities to increase the understanding of the various Indigenous histories, cultures, and traditions, to create a culturally safe learning environment in collaboration with members of the curriculum leadership team.
Implements necessary changes as they relate to the Indigenous health curriculum in collaboration with faculty and staff members. Assist in creating elective and Community Service Learning opportunities for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and maintain a list of electives possibilities in Indigenous communities.
Event planning
Plan and organize an annual calendar of various cultural events and student gatherings throughout the academic year and assist in all other UGME events.
Financial and Resources Management
Participate in budget planning and approval processes including short
- and long-term projections for operational budget of the Indigenous Program. Create annual reports, manages lists of expenses, and provide timely updates.

Two (2) years of experience in a related field
Postsecondary education in a related field (Administration, etc.)
Lived experience of Indigenous cultures and way of life
Knowledge and experience of a university-level academic environment.
Experience in customer service, with abilities to act as a resource person.
Experience in program management.
Experience in budget management and financial forecasting.
Experience in reporting expenditures and creating expense reports.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving ability.
