As a key member of the **Research** team, the **Research** **Competency Analyst **will be responsible for** **supporting occupational research and competency standards development initiatives**.** **The specific duties performed by the Competency Analyst will be determined by the current phase of each research project and the priority of research tasks.***

While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.

**Responsibilities**
- Tracking, analyzing, and producing accurate labour market related information to determine market projections and trends.
- Conducting job postings analysis to determine occupational knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to an occupation.
- Producing accurate occupational profiles, with assistance from the Competency Manager.
- Conducting interviews and supporting focus groups, roundtables, advisory committees, workshops, and events.
- Reviewing, compiling, and editing research reports and project documents.
- Assisting with designing and programming surveys.
- With support and guidance from the Research Team, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Attending research team meetings.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications and Education**
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university, preferably in Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, Public Policy/Administration, or Communications.
- A minimum of one-year related experience in an independent research position.
- Familiarity with occupational research and workforce development is essential; familiarity with environmental occupations is a bonus.
- Familiarity with practices, methods and techniques used with occupational or demographics research and workforce analytics is an asset.
- Experience with MS Office and online survey platforms such as SurveyMonkey is essential.
- Excellent communication skills (reading, listening, writing, etc.).
- Strong analytical and pattern recognition skills with a capacity to visualize problems using systems thinking.
- Fluent in English - Fluency in French is considered an asset.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and a positive attitude.
