**Position Summary**
The Volunteer Coordinator will oversee the orientation/training, and scheduling of volunteers and tracking volunteer milestones at Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH). This role is vital in ensuring that volunteers are effectively utilized to enhance patient care and support the operations of the facility. The Volunteer Coordinator will foster a positive environment, encouraging volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Recruitment and Onboarding**:
- Organize orientation and training sessions for new volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge and applicable policy and procedure awareness.
- **Volunteer Management**:
- Assign volunteers to appropriate roles based on their skills, interests, and the needs of the facility.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
- Monitor volunteer performance and satisfaction, conducting regular check-ins and feedback sessions.
- **Program Development**:
- Collaborate with staff to identify areas where volunteers can add value and support departmental goals.
- Support the development and management of volunteer programs and initiatives that enhance patient experience and community engagement.
- **Recognition and Retention**:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of recognition programs to appreciate and celebrate the contributions of volunteers.
- Maintain communication with volunteers, including maintaining a section of the LWDH newsletter or updates on upcoming events and opportunities.
- **Reporting and Administration**:
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, assignments, and feedback.
- Prepare regular reports on volunteer activities and program effectiveness to share with leadership.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma
- Previous experience in volunteer management or within a healthcare setting is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and database management.
**Skills**:
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to working with volunteers and patients.
**Commitment**:
This is a volunteer position requiring a commitment of approximately 10 hours per week for a minimum duration of 12 months. The hours are flexible and are dependent on the needs of the program and volunteers.
