**SUMMARY**
This position manages the regulatory and prudential risk-based supervision of provincially regulated financial sectors (i.e., credit unions, insurance, and trust).

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Manages the development, maintenance and implementation of supervisory strategies for provincially regulated financial institutions.
- Manages production of up-to-date risk assessments of the regulated financial institutions.
- Develops and maintains a program to monitor and evaluate system-wide or sector issues potentially affecting the regulated sectors and institutions.
- Contributes to the development of regulatory programs, practices and systems for the supervision of institutions.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of operational plans and reporting for a program area to support reliable program accountability, organizational core values and mandate.
- Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures, performance standards and service levels with the goal of continuous improvement.
- Develops and maintains constructive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides supervision, coaching and mentorship to allow team members to achieve their full potential.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business, Law, Economics or Financial or Risk Management and extensive directly related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related experience includes:

- Conducting audits or regulatory review of financial institution entities
- Conducting financial risk, actuarial valuations, risk management assessments

Preference may be given to applicants with Industry experience in at least one of insurance, credit union, banking, trusts, or related industries.
- Knowledge of the relevant provincial acts and regulations.
- Knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of supervisory frameworks in BC and Canada.
- Knowledge of trust and insurance sectors, including the variety of current and emerging business models.
- Knowledge of financial statements, reporting standards and metrics.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and methods.
- Ability to exercise judgement, initiative, and discretion.
- Ability to analyze business plans and financial statements.
- Ability to influence stakeholders to comply with legislation regulations and policies.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
