Foster Parent

**Foster Parent (Caregiver)**
- **Please note this is an in-person, in-home, role in the Metro Vancouver, BC area (with preference of location in the Tri-Cities,) with no-remote work option available.**_
The Children's Foundation is looking for a long-term, stable, foster home for two Indigenous females (ages 5 and 7.5.) The 5-year-old female (query ADHD; some difficultly with attention and regulation) is an active and curious youth who likes to climb and play. The 7.5-year-old has no developmental diagnoses and likes to run, color, read books, and play with dolls and stuffed animals.
The ideal foster parent for these two youth will have experience and a broad understanding with ADHD. The Caregiver (or one of two Caregivers) will need to be home full-time providing 24/7 supervision. Both children would do best in a home that does not have a male child. We are seeking a home with no pets and Caregivers that already or are open to learning about indigenous practice to help foster the youths cultural heredity.
The foster parent must be able to provide transportation to and from school, appointments, etc. The foster home/Caregiver should be willing to work collaboratively with all involved to meet the expectations of Ministry of Child and Family Development and help each youth thrive.
The Children's Foundation understands that supporting the foster placement with resources makes for best outcomes. Respite (48 hours of out-of-home care) will be offered for every second weekend after the first 3 months.
Caregivers will need to be vetted (SAFE home study) and trained according to the Ministry of Children and Family Development standards for foster homes. Specific support and training are available to the foster placement that meets criteria.
Compensation is between $6000 and $7000 per month, dependent on how many days in the month and how many respite days each youth will have.
The Children’s Foundation is aiming to provide permanency and normalization and to provide a family care home for as long as the children need it. In our experience, children grow, develop and have the best chance of success when they live in a stable long-term home.
**If you are interested in becoming a Foster Home for this child, we would like to meet you.**
**Please note you must live in the Lower Mainland, ideally within or close to the Tri-Cities, BC, and be able to provide transportation.**
