Join the Health Care Planning and Performance (HCPP) Unit, where your expertise will help shape the future of patient safety across Ontario's correctional institutions. As the **Patient Safety Lead**, you'll play a key role in developing and implementing system-wide strategies that enhance care, reduce risk, and align with major provincial health initiatives.

**About the job**: Reporting to the Manager, Health Care Planning & Performance, the Patient Safety Lead will:

- Design and implement a digital patient safety reporting system using best practices and innovative health care solutions.
- Create and deliver patient safety training to staff, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Provide expert leadership on patient safety initiatives, guiding internal teams and senior management.
- Foster a 'just' safety culture by identifying risks and leading mitigation strategies across correctional health services.
- Build strategic partnerships with ministries, agencies, and public sector organizations to support cross-jurisdictional safety efforts.
- Analyze patient safety data and trends to inform performance improvements and evidence-based decision-making.

**Note: This position will require occasional travel within the province**

**What you bring to the team**:
**Mandatory requirements**:

- Incumbent is required to be a regulated health professional in good standing with their professional body.
- Demonstrated completion of relevant patient safety education (i.e. IHI, Canadian Patient Safety Officer, CQuIPS, MSc QIPS) required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a health care setting.

**Patient Safety and Health Care Standards Knowledge**: You have:

- Advanced knowledge of patient safety science, principles, and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with clinical standards across health sector disciplines
- Experience developing and implementing patient safety frameworks and processes
- Ability to provide ministry-wide technical expertise on patient safety and quality improvement.

**Business Knowledge**: You have:

- Strong understanding of policy and program development within government contexts
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, including AODA compliance
- Understanding of modern regulatory concepts and compliance strategies
- Experience in strategic and business planning, including preparing Treasury Board and Cabinet submissions

**Analytical and Planning Skills**: You have:

- Expertise in research and data analysis using qualitative and quantitative methods
- Experience with quality improvement tools (e.g., PDSA cycles, process mapping, root cause analysis)
- Ability to develop evidence-based options and support strategic decision-making
- Experience in strategic and business planning, including preparing Treasury Board and Cabinet submissions
- Knowledge of risk management principles and performance measurement mechanisms

**Leadership and Project Management Skills**: You have:

- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to lead program initiatives aligned with regulatory goals
- Ability to lead regulatory and compliance risk assessments

**Communication and Relationship Management Skills**: You have:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Ability to lead committees, prepare reports, and deliver executive-level proposals
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to executive leadership and stakeholders
