The Rehabilitation Centre for Children is a community-based health care facility providing Assistive Technology equipment to children with physical disabilities. The clinical technician provides the team with technical skills and knowledge and information about Assistive Technology equipment to ensure the suitability of equipment provided, modified or recommended. The clinical technician prepares instructions from which equipment can be manufactured or adapted and provides information to assist in team decisions regarding equipment options and/or alternatives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Participates in clinical situations with multi-disciplinary teams, including parents and equipment providers to assist in assessment, design and recommendations of Assistive Technology equipment.
- Provides information on Assistive Technology equipment options.
- Prepares, keeps detailed notes and working drawing and instructions.
- Manufactures and/ or modified equipment from raw materials and components.
- Assesses returned equipment and puts re-useable devices and components back to inventory.
- Assists in maintenance and upkeep of Shop.
- Makes necessary equipment and modifications required for children attending the Department program.
- Supports the ordering of equipment and inventory items
- Serves on and contributes to activities of ongoing and ad hoc committees that assist in the overall operation of the Department and of Centre activities that are associated with the Department.
- Records work completed, modifications, and observations in digital fabrication systems for documentation and future reference.
- Operates and drives lift equipment in accordance with certification requirements, as directed by the department.
- Function as a member of the Assistive Technology team.

**Education, Licenses, Registration & Experience**:

- Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Certified Technician or Technologist with CTTAM.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of hand tools and machine tools for mechanical assembly, fabrication, and repair.
- Experience working with a variety of materials including plastics, metals, and composites, with skills in metalworking, welding, and machining.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication instructions.
- Experience in modifying, maintaining, and fabricating custom equipment to meet individual client needs.
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, with strong communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

**Hours of Work**:8:00 am - 4:15 pm. Hours may vary depending on clinic needs.

**Salary**:$28.319 - $ 32.757 per hour as per CUPE salary scale.

**Conditions of hire**:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and able to present a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
