The Shop Foreperson is responsible for the effective supervision of service department staff to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met. Responsibilities will include the training of technicians, safety, policies, and procedures, as well as the identification and developing training plans. Ensure health and safety policies are followed. In the course of their duties, the Shop Foreperson will prepare a range of reports. Through the effective management of targets, goals, and service efficiencies, they will ensure the ongoing success of the shop floor.

**JOB DUTIES**

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise the activities of service department staff technicians and apprentices.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and technology.
- Ensure quality of workmanship.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to technicians and apprentices.
- Help diagnose problems, perform quality control checks, monitor the progression of work.
- Identify, investigate, and correct potential environmental and safety problems
- Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time repair.
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Class A (310S) Mechanic’s License
- Red Seal Certification Preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience with demonstrated motivating, training, appraising and general supervisory skills
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations and complex trouble shooting of issues.
- Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively staff required
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and customers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Ability to prioritize daily duties
