This is an Expression of Interest in being considered for the Group Leader designation for Intake and open to all full time Youth Workers and Addiction Workers.

Within the framework of the Intake team for Youth Addiction Programs, the Intake Worker is responsible for assisting the Intake Counsellor and other team members with the entry of clients into the appropriate service at the Sister Margaret Smith Centre. It is the role of the Intake Worker to provide information; to communicate with potential clients and referents through phone, fax and mail and virtual platforms; to ensure information and referral material is up to date; complete referral log, to register and admit clients in Catalyst and other database systems; to assist with client admission to residential programs; to assist with administration of screening tools; to provide tours and information to referents as requested. The Intake Worker will participate in developing community linkages, promoting programs and fostering positive public relations.

This role will also include the support to other programs and groups within the Sister Margaret Smith Centre which may include: Family Program, Community DBT, Choices and support to the residential programs. Some evening and weekend work is expected.

Applicants must have a minimum of a two year Diploma in a Human Service Program from an accredited college and a minimum of one year working in an Intake related position with clients experiencing substance abuse and/or mental health problems. Additional requirements include direct experience in dealing with the public in an entry capacity; working knowledge of addiction issues; crisis management skills; word processing and experience with database programs, in particular Catalyst; well-developed oral and written communication skills; excellent time management and organization. The ability to work both independently as well as on a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
