General Laborer

**Stair Plant**

Gillies Lumber is a company with roots dating back to the early 1900’s and is part of the Alpa Lumber Group. We provide high-quality products to homeowners, contractors, and builders while our affiliate companies manufacture windows. In addition, we manufacture roof trusses and custom stairs and railings on site. Under the supervision of the Stair Production Lead and Stair Production Manager you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support stair production and customer order fulfillment.

This is an entry level position suitable for anyone interested in woodworking and carpentry.

**Responsibilities**:

- Pull railings for customer orders
- Assist in wood milling and wood working operations in the production of wood stairs and posts
- Communicate and understand verbal instruction in English
- Maintain the organization of shop materials
- Maintain the organization of the rail area
- Other duties as may be assigned

**Job Qualifications**:

- Willing and eager to learn
- Experience and desire to do physical work
- Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
- Read a tape measure
- Ability to read and understand numbers on customer orders
- Strong people, teamwork, and communication skills
- Attention to detail, ability to follow directions
- Able to maintain and clean and safe work area
- Work safely and in accordance with all Health and Safety regulations
- Proactive with PPE (Personal Protective Equipmment) wearing requirements

**Qualifications considered to be an asset**:

- Previous woodworking experience

**Schedule**:

- Monday to Thursday 7:00 am - 4:30 pm and Friday 7:00 am - 2:30 pm
- 30 mins unpaid lunch.
