General Labourer

Class: Full time

Reports to: General Manager

The role of the General Labourer is to perform the tasks of cutting, moving, packing, punching, and pressing of steel and aluminum parts where needed according to the instructions given by the Lead Hand Welder or Production Supervisor. The General Labourer must adhere to quality and safety standards under the guidance of the Lead Hand Welder. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with welders regarding their productivity, work ethic, quality of welds and ability to · Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal cutting, straightening, and bending machines.
  • Operate drilling and punching machines to punch, drill, tap holes.
  • Operate automatic saw to cut metal parts to a particular dimension.
  • Operate forklift to move materials safely within the shop.
  • Assist welders, Lead Hand Welder and Production Supervisor with required tasks, when asked
  • Operate forklift to support Shipping and Receiving requirements for customers and suppliers

Qualifications/Skills: Required

  • Some experience working as a General Labourer working with steel and aluminum
  • Excellent verbal communication skills working internally with co-workers and externally with customers during order pickup.
  • Proficient use of hand tools
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act understanding and enforceability
  • Legally able to work in Canada

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
