_**Summary of Position**:_
- Responsible for providing quality guest services as it pertains to checking in/out of guests, taking hotel reservations; and services in a gracious and professional manner. Accuracy with daily shift accounting procedures must be demanded. Service with a smile. Pay based on experience._
- **Duties & Responsibilities**:_
- _Check-in and check-out hotel guests in a professional, confident, and friendly manner._
- _Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day._
- _Provide gracious and efficient telephone service. Calls should be answered promptly and knowledgeably, always ensuring complete and accurate information._
- _Review arrivals noting special requests and blocking rooms as necessary for group arrivals or VIP regulars._
- _Complete all items as listed on shift checklists._
- _Ensure proper credit card procedures are followed at all times to include credit card and guest signature of registration card._
- _Adhere to all cashiering procedures: open, secure and balance out shift banks to include the verification of all cash, credit card charges, and direct billings._
- _Inform guests of any messages, mail, faxes, etc. received for them._
- _Communicate service and amenities of the hotel to guests. Including out discount packages._
- _Take, record and relay messages accurately, completely and legibly to all employees and guests._
- _Accept and record wake-up call requests._
- _Provide Concierge service (fluent knowledge of local restaurants, special events, city attractions, and guest amenities)._
- _Knowledge of hotel fire and emergency procedures._
- _Keep the front desk as well as lobby and kitchen areas clean and well organized._
- _Assist with reservation calls in a professional manner._
- _Maintain complete knowledge at all times of:_
- _All hotel features/services, hours of operation._
- _All room types, number, layouts, décor, appointments and location._
- _All room rates, special rates and promotions._
- _Daily house count and expected arrivals/departures._
- _Room availability status for any given day._
- _Complete final manual postings for all miscellaneous income._
- _Complete a Bucket Check to verify accuracy in rates and information._
- _Initiate Night Audit process in our PMS (property management system)_
- _Prepare all next day guest reservations arrivals registration cards, maps and room keys._
- _Prepare all management reports for hotel management._
- _Prepare all appropriate housekeeping reports for next business day._
- _Perform research on credit card charge-backs as directed by hotel management._
- _Keep business area and all drawers organized and tidy._
- _Order breakfast supplies and track inventory._
- _Clean back office areas, including sweeping, mopping and cleaning counters._
- _Clean public areas._
- _In winter season, walkways and salting will have to be tended to and supervised._
- _Knowledge of hotel fire and emergency procedures._
- _Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or General Manager_
- **Qualifications**:_
- _At least 6 months of experience in similar capacity or an office setting._
- _Grad 12 graduate or higher._
- _Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)._
- _Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision._
- _Be able to work any shifts in case of an emergency._
- _Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding. French is a benefit._
- _Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations._
- _Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists._
- _Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of patience and understanding, tact, and diplomacy to defuse angry and resolve a situation._
- _Ability to multi-task. Must be able to work under pressure of check-in and check-out processes and handle multiple tasks at once._
- _Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads. Weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying packages will be required. Luggage relocation ability._
