**POSITION: Frontline Shelter Support Worker - Casual/Part time positions** **Department: Programs and Services Reporting** To: Front-Line Service Shelter Manager Available Positions - Two Casual/Part-Time Dayshift - Two Casual/Part-Time Night-shift **About Us**: For over 26 years, Harvest House Atlantic exists to meet the needs of people who are lost, lonely, addicted, and hurting, by “Connecting people of compassion with people in need to make a difference.” Our services include our Emergency Shelter, Community Centre, Addiction Recovery Program, and community-based housing Programs. **Job Summary**: The Homeless Shelter Worker is responsible for providing compassionate and supportive services to individuals facing homelessness. This role involves addressing the immediate needs of shelter residents, offering guidance, and connecting them with resources to help transition towards stable housing. **Primary Responsibilities**: - Provide direct support to individuals experiencing homelessness. - Conduct intake interviews and assessments to determine clients' needs. - Assist clients in accessing services such as housing, employment, healthcare, and social services. - Monitor the safety and well-being of shelter residents. - Facilitate group activities and support meetings. - Collaborate with local agencies and community organizations. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records - Advocate for clients’ rights and needs. - Assist in daily shelter operations, cleaning, and general maintenance. - Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution. - Support clients in developing life skills, such as budgeting, job searching, and personal care. - Ensure compliance with shelter policies and procedures. - Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. - Perform other related duties as assigned. **Job Requirement** - Start date As soon as possible - Casual/part time (Dayshift and Nightshift) - Salary: $20.00 per hour - Location: In-person, Moncton Area, NB - Six (6) months probationary - Current Certification in First Aid/CPR considered an asset - Mandatory Criminal Police Investigation Check and Vulnerable Sector Clearance (CPIC) - Non-violent crisis and trauma-inform care intervention training considered an asset. **Benefits** - **For **Part-Time positions with scheduled hours - Eligible to accrue vacation hours or 4% of total hours worked - For Casual "on-call" positions - eligible for vacation pay out, 4% of the total hours worked - Both are eligible for Statutory pay IF scheduled to work on the Stat Public Holiday. **Qualifications** - Two (2) years of Community College, in relevant social work studies is considered an asset - An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable. - A minimum of one year of prior related experience, including frontline involvement in a social service environment, considered an asset - Lived-experienced is considered an asset **Preferred Competencies** - Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills for daily communication with clientele. - Ability to identify challenges, gathering all the facts of a person’s case. - Strong interpersonal communication skills to engage participants and refer them to resources in the community, journeying with them on their path to wellness. - Be a team player and a person with positive thinking to develop a good working. - French considered an asset.
