Position Overview
As a member of the Lambton County Library system, the Technical Services Clerk provides support services to the library. Duties relate to the preparation of new library materials for circulation, requests and exchange services, and collection / database maintenance. The Technical Services Clerk is responsible for delivering a library service that meets the strategic direction set forth by senior management and Lambton County Council.
**Responsibilities**:
**Library Services Support**:
- Prepare library materials for circulation
- Process all inter-library, inter-branch requests and distribute requested materials between appropriate branches and libraries
- Complete weeding and discarding of materials following Lambton County Library's guidelines/policies
- Prepare and process the exchange of library materials
- Repair damaged materials following Lambton County Library's guidelines/policies
- Maintain the appropriate databases
- Action various reports and take appropriate action to ensure prompt and timely service
**Administrative Duties**:
- Maintain necessary corporate files in accordance with the County of Lambton's Records Retention By-law
- Maintain relevant statistics and report anomalies as required
- Sort and distribute mail
**Customer Service / Communication Responsibilities**:
- Represent the library effectively in the community
- Interact pleasantly and courteously with the public, community partners and staff, promoting a harmonious workplace
- Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communication skills, along with presentation skills
**Other Job Tasks / Responsibilities**:
- Ensure the effective use and maintenance of the Integrated Library System (ILS)
**General**:
- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Formal Education
- Completion of Two-Year College Diploma Program
Experience
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year experience in a library setting required
- Demonstrated organizational skills, interpersonal skills and multi-tasking skills
- Computer experience including Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Internet, electronic databases, digital platforms, etc.
- Interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
