**About the Opportunity** Are you a recent graduate from a Geographical Information Systems related program? Our Urban Systems Kamloops office is searching for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technician, to join our team As a GIS Technician, you will get to work alongside experienced GIS professionals, engineers, community planners, environmental professionals, and technologists across a wide variety of interesting projects. In keeping with our philosophy of "hands-on" learning and growth, you will be given as much freedom and responsibility as you demonstrate you can handle. In addition to the learning and project experience, you can: - Create and maintain spatial and tabular information using a variety of software platforms; such as ArcGIS, Excel, and other spatial data tools; - Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of GIS concepts, practices, and procedures; - Perform basic spatial analysis and geo-processing tasks; - Create basic maps to illustrate concepts and identify study areas; - Digitize maps and other related plans; - Perform QA/QC tasks; refine data entry processes as required; - Research, acquire, and import data layers from several different sources; - Develop and maintain documentation and metadata in line with company standards; - Actively support our municipal and Indigenous clients; and - Assist with other GIS tasks as required. **About You** - You enjoy working with people, it gets you energized and enthused - you can build rapport with different types of people quickly and understand the importance of building relationships. - You embrace a growth mindset - you are committed to and actively seek out opportunities to learn, grow and develop. - Strong service orientation - responding to requests efficiently and effectively, ability to take ownership and initiative. - You have a strong knowledge of ArcGIS Pro. - You are proficient with Spatial Analyst extension. - You have the ability to compose clear and polished cartographic products. **About Us** Recognized as one of Canada's top employers, Urban Systems is an employee-owned inter-disciplinary consulting firm based in Western Canada.
