The Thornhill Club is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling, fitness/wellness, tennis courts, and swimming pool/aquatics and activities. The Thornhill Club is much more than just one of Canada’s best golf courses with a deep heritage, the Club has proven itself to have an innovative approach to cuisine, the environment and providing multiple facilities for family activities. The Club is conveniently located in the GTA on Yonge Street (near Hwy 407) in Thornhill, Ontario.

As a result of The Thornhill Club’s commitment to providing its members with an excellent Club experience, we are hiring a Sous Chef that will support and help lead a farm to table approach as much as possible for the Members. As part of this vision, Thornhill has championed growing many fresh vegetables and herbs used in our eight dining facilities within the Club. Even our honey comes from hives on the property and maple trees produce syrup each spring. This individual will be a key and supporting role that will report directly to the Executive Chef.

**Key** **Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Preparing and portioning pizza dough
- Proficient at hand stretching according to AVPN standards
- Topping pizzas with a keen eye for detail + quick rhythm
- Expertise cooking Neapolitan style pizza in a wood-fired oven
- Completing orders for dine in or take away
- Ensuring the consistency of high level quality food and bill times
- Feeding + maintaining the proper wood-fired oven temperature
- Restocking pre-chopped oven wood from storage to the restaurant as needed
- Controlling kitchen inventory, ordering and labor cost systems
- Maintain a clean and safe environment that meets or exceeds regulatory standards, policies and practices
- Receiving, checking in and putting away food and supply orders
- Assists in food prep during off peak periods as needed
- Able to work evenings + weekends, according to the needs of the business
- Other pizzaiolo-related duties as required

**Requirements Include**:

- A strong passion and knowledge of food, especially all things Italian
- Must be able to work with pizza dough specifically prepared for Neapolitan pizza and be experienced in maintaining them
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen
- A strong work ethic, self-motivated, and takes responsibility for actions
- A keen eye for detail and works in a highly organized manner
- Strong communication skills and open to constructive feedback
- Mature, positive, and professional work attitude when alone and with a team
- Establish and maintain positive and long-lasting relationships with colleagues and guests

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 44 per week
