As the AVP, Estate and Financial Planning (EFPS), you will oversee a financial planning center of excellence and lead a dynamic team of professionals responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to Advisors and their clients on complex estate and financial planning matters. You will own the multi-year vision for financial planning as a core competency for our business and lead and support the development and delivery of estate and financial planning tools, resources, and training for Advisors and their teams.

You will be a key member of the Business Growth leadership team and collaborate within a matrix environment with head office, national and regional senior leadership to execute against business plans to grow the business and meet client needs.

**What will you do?**
- Lead and inspire a team of estate and financial planning specialists, and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and develop and implement strategies to grow and retain EFPS revenue-drivers and target client base.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of EFPS planning tools, including the One Plan financial planning software, along with other templates, guides, and materials ensuring they are aligned with the company's policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate proactive collaboration with other Sun Life business units and partners to identify and leverage opportunities for estate and financial planning best practices and revenue growth.
- Provide feedback and input to senior management on the performance and effectiveness of the estate and financial planning program and services.
- Represent the EFPS mandate by developing and maintaining strong relationships with Regional Distribution team leaders and advisors.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and competitor offerings, and generate recommendations and insights to enhance the EFPS program, support SLFD advisors and services.
- Oversee the consistent presentation and explanation of EFPS planning strategies and concepts to Advisors and their clients while managing the quality assurance program associated with the delivery and execution of these plans.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to the EFPS team on estate and financial planning best practices, techniques, and trends.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of engaging and informative estate and financial planning seminars and workshops for Advisors and their clients, both in person and online.
- Stay on top of regulations, and industry standards, and update and communicate the impact and implications to senior leadership and our distribution partners where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and ethical codes, and manage and mitigate any potential risks or issues related to estate and financial planning.

**What do you need to succeed?**
- Expert in financial planning with deep knowledge of sales practices and processes
- Strong ability to influence outcomes and make an impact through engagement with senior leaders, field management and advisors
- Subject matter expertise across insurance and wealth management distribution channels
- In-depth knowledge of individual insurance and wealth management products aligned to the retail client fulfillment
- In-depth knowledge of the financial planning industry and the competitive marketplace (trends, products, market positioning)
- Excellent analytic, communication and presentation skills
- Proven track-record of strong leadership and relationship management skills needed to lead a team of Financial Planning professionals located throughout Canada
- Completion of a post-secondary or undergraduate university degree
- 10+ years of relevant industry work experience
- Demonstrated financial planning skills and knowledge, including attainment or progress towards one or more professional financial planning designations (ex. CFP, CLU, CA, CPA, LLB, QAFP)
