We are looking for Part-Time, Live-out caregivers for our mom.

She is 88, lives in her home in East Vancouver, with our sister who is taking care of her but needs help in taking care of her.

We are looking for a Morning shift caregiver and an Evening caregiver to provide assistance to our sister and our mom.

**Morning Shift**

**Approximately 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Sunday.**

**(one person can do all 7 days if they would like; or we will find 2 people to share the week).**

  • Feed pureed lunch to our mom
  • Assist in Toileting
  • Help move back to bed or sofa
  • Some physical massage of my mom’s legs.
  • Housekeeping cleanup if time permits
  • Assist our sister in providing weekly baths

**Evening Shift**

**Approx. 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Sunday**

**(one person can do all 7 days if they would like; or we will find 2 people to share the week).**

  • Feed pureed dinner to our mom
  • Assist in Toileting
  • Help move back to bed or sofa
  • Some physical massage of my mom’s legs
  • Housekeeping clean up if time permits
  • Assist our sister in providing weekly baths

They live on Fraser Street & 60th Avenue in Vancouver, B. C. Unfortunately, for reliability reasons, only applicants who live within a 30-40 minute commute will be considered.

Our mom is quite frail (less than 100 lbs), and due to a stroke and rheumatoid arthritis and dementia, can no longer walk or speak. She has extreme difficulty swallowing and can only eat pureed food.

**Responsibilities**

  • Spoon feeding pureed food and water & giving her daily medicine.
  • Physically strong, able to bend up and down, prevent falls in supporting our mom when transitioning to/from bed and to/from toilet and sofa. (our mom no longer walks, she has to be placed in her walker/wheelchair.
  • Talking, patience, engagement with her, although with her stroke, she cannot speak anymore.
  • Thoroughly flossing & brushing her teeth after meal, cleaning face, hands.
  • Toileting throughout the afternoon and evening.
  • Mild stretching, exercises, some massaging of legs, arms and back
  • Assisting our sister showering her on a weekly basis.
  • Some housekeeping if time permits

Qualifications

  • Care aid certification and recent minimum of 3 years of experience caring for a senior who has dementia and is no longer mobile, and with difficulty swallowing food and water.
  • Physically strong, able to bend up and down, able to physically help transition our mom from her bed to her walker/wheelchair to toilet or sofa. Most important thing is fall prevention.
  • Kind, gentle, positive, conversant with elderly
  • Reliable and responsible. Can show up ready to support our sister on time without missing any shifts.
  • Good verbal English
  • Flexible personality, hard working, can take instructions, organized and detail oriented.

In person interview with us, and references with previous elderly clients will be the process.

$23-$25/hour depending on experience

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 21 - 28 per week

Flexible Language Requirement
