**Project Manager/Estimator (Electronic Security Systems)**

**Position Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Estimation and Design **_
- Prepare Detailed Cost Estimates: Develop comprehensive estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for Electronic Access Control (EAC) systems, CCTV, intercom, intrusion alarms, and associated hardware (e.g., card readers, controllers, biometric devices), training, and software, based on proposals, plans, and specifications.
- Tender Meetings: Attend tender meetings to gather information, perform measurements and takeoffs, and assess site conditions.
- Evaluate Client Specifications and Design Systems: Analyze client requirements and project specifications to determine the scope of work and tailor hardware and software solutions accordingly.
- Vendor/Subtrade Analysis: Review and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure Compliance: Verify that designs comply with relevant codes, industry standards (e.g., NFPA, ANSI), and customer requirements.
- Equipment Selection: Specify and select equipment based on project needs, ensuring component compatibility and adherence to industry standards.
- Documentation: Develop technical documentation, including system designs, layouts, specifications, and installation/maintenance instructions as required.
- Solution Recommendations: Provide scalable and secure security system recommendations tailored to client needs.
- **Project Management and Coordination**_
- Timeline Management: Plan and manage project schedules to align design, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities with deadlines and milestones.
- Budget Monitoring: Track and control project budgets, ensuring alignment with estimates and adjusting for changes in scope or design.
- Stakeholders’ Coordination: Collaborate with contractors, vendors, architects, electrical engineers, general contractors, and subtrades to ensure smooth project execution.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections to ensure installation quality, identify performance issues, and address them before system handover.
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during installation.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor project progress, address delays or scope changes, and communicate updates to clients and stakeholders, including bookkeeping.
- Client Communication: Provide regular updates to clients, address concerns, and adjust plans as necessary.
- System Handover: Ensure proper commissioning and handover of the completed system, including all closeout documentation.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements**
- Advanced knowledge of electronic access control, surveillance, intrusion alarms, intercoms, communication systems, and networking.
- Expertise in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and wiring requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Strong understanding of industry and trade standards (e.g., NFPA, ANSI).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and project management software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to upholding safety and quality standards in all aspects of project execution.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing timelines effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (to travel to project sites).
**Education**
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field considered an asset.
- PMP Certification considered an asset.
- Certification in access control systems, CCTV, and intrusion alarms is preferred.
**Experience**
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an estimator and project manager for electronic security projects.
- Previous experience as electronic security systems technician is considered an asset
**Work Environment**
- Split between office-based work for estimation and documentation, and field-based work for project oversight and client interactions.
- Client sites may include construction zones, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, etc.
- Collaboration with internal teams, technicians, and external vendors.
**Job Type**
- Permanent.
- Full Time (40 hours per week).
